Mary Jean Garrett June 11, 1946 – January 27, 2026
Mary Jean Garrett, 79, of Sherwood, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026. She was born on June 11, 1946, in Helena, Arkansas, to Irene and Robert (Etheridge) Peppers.
Mary Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved deeply and served others with compassion.
She dedicated over 30 years of her life as a nurse in Sherwood, Arkansas, caring for anyone who needed her. Her calling to serve extended beyond her profession—she was a faithful member of SH 1st Baptist Church for 45 years, where her kindness and steady faith touched many lives. She spent 35 years of her nursing career at Sherwood Family Medical Center before finishing her career at Sherwood Family Medicine, where she retired after 45 years of service. She was known for her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to her patients.
Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Robert Peppers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Tom” Garrett; her children, Tammy Woodruff, Leigh Carson, and Kevin Garrett; her grandchildren, Shaun, Cody, and Ashleigh; her three great-grandchildren; and her sisters; Linda McGuire, Judy Sanders, and Martha Robinson. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
Mary Jean will be remembered for her compassion, her faith, and the countless lives she touched through her work and love. Her legacy of care and kindness will live on in all who knew her.
