Mary Jean Garrett

Mary Jean Garrett June 1, 1946 – January 27, 2026

     Mary Jean Garrett, 79, of Sherwood, Arkansas went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 27th, 2026. She was born June 1st, 1946, to Robert E. and Irene Peppers in Helena, Arkansas. She graduated from Barton High School and went on to become a well known and respected nurse in the Sherwood area while working at the Sherwood Medical Center for the last 35 years of a 45-year career as an L.P.N.

     Post retirement, she continued to serve others through volunteerism at a food pantry in nearby Jacksonville. She was dedicated to her church family as well, spending 45 years as a member of the Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church here in Sherwood. She enjoyed camping, gardening, hummingbirds, and spending time with friends and family.

     She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of almost 45 years Thomas (Tom) Garrett, her daughters Tammy Woodruff and Leigh Carson (Randy); stepson Kevin Garrett; grandchildren Shon Hawley, M. Cody Hawley, Ashleigh Duncan (Matt); by three great-grandchildren, and sisters Linda McGuire, Judy Sanders, and Martha Robinson.

     In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gideons International.

     A Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Friday, February 6th, at Smith Family Funeral Home-Sherwood (7700 Hwy 107) followed by funeral services beginning at 10:30. Burial will be at 12:00 (noon) p.m., in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery (1501 W. Maryland Ave.) following services.
