Mary Lue Gibbs

Mary Lue Gibbs, of Camden, AR, moved to her heavenly home on October 3, 2022.  She was born on June 4, 1934, in West Plains, MO, to Leonard and Garrett Farrar.

Mary Lue is survived by her husband, William K (“Bill”) Gibbs,  as well as the children of their combined marriage: Kathy Daneshmandi (K.C.) of Little Rock, AR; Mike Fisher (Lana) of Camden, AR; Steve Fisher (Anna) of Ft. Smith, AR; and Matt Gibbs (Crystal) of Camden, AR.  Surviving grandchildren are Krista Merriott (Cory) of Magnolia, AR; Kyle Fisher of Ft. Smith, AR; Emily Fisher of Little Rock, AR; Bryce Daneshmandi (Kayla) of Little Rock, AR;  and Ethan Gibbs of Camden, AR.  Two grandchildren, Courtney Fisher (Ft. Smith, AR) and Chase Daneshmandi (Little Rock, AR) welcomed Mary Lue to her new home.

Mary Lue lived every day in service to her family and her community.  She served as an elementary school teacher in Topeka, KS, and Bearden, AR, as well as the Director at Ivory Heights Daycare, earning the honor of Young Woman of the Year in Camden. Mary Lue also served as Principal at Carver Elementary School and Ivory Primary School.  She thoroughly enjoyed working with children in all settings at home, school, and church.  Mary Lue loved singing in the church choir and volunteering in the Food Pantry, but her favorite thing to do was to spend time with family.  Mary Lue’s positive approach to any situation will, no doubt, have an eternal impact on all those blessed to know her.

Words can’t express the gratitude felt for the compassionate care of the OCMC Hospice staff and additional caregivers who have become family.

On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, a 10:00 AM graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, AR with a Celebration of Mary Lue’s life at First United Methodist Church sanctuary in Camden, AR, at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the Food Pantry or Sue’s Table at First United Methodist Church in Camden, two ministries that were dear to Mary Lue’s heart.
