Mary "Movalene" Harper

Mary Movalene Harper, age 93, of Cabot and the last four years, Bryant, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, after a month long illness. She was born July 27, 1931, in Parkdale, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John T. McCuin and Flora McCuin of Cabot, Arkansas.‍

Movalene was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, William “Bill” Rodolphus Harper, son, Gary William Harper, and one brother, John “Jack” McCuin of Sherwood.

‍Movalene is survived by her son Ricky Rodolphus Harper of Bryant (Michelle) and six grandchildren, Alex Harper of Rogers (Lauren), Mary Claire Harper of Bryant, Jason Harper of Tulsa (Ruth), John Harper of Tulsa, Morgan Jerry of Bauxite (Randy), Maddie Wingfield of Benton (Will), five great-granddaughters; Evelyn, Charley, Shiloh, Elora, Elizabeth and one sister, Madeline Miller of Cabot.

‍She was an active member of Russell Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Cabot, Arkansas, for 49 years, teaching Children’s Sunday School and serving as church treasurer and a board member before moving closer to her son and his family in 2019. She enjoyed arts and crafts and spending time with her family. She became a wonderful homemaker and stay-at-home Mom when she married Bill Harper, the love of her life, in 1961. Ironically, she was a pastor’s wife in the same church in the early 50’s when she was first married to Reverend Bill Rough, who drowned trying to save a young boy during a Sunday School fishing trip after they had moved to Newport, Arkansas.

*A small graveside service will initially be held for the family, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Russell Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Hwy 89 South • 30 Mahoney Rd, Cabot, AR 72023.
