Mary Louise McCoy

Mary Louise Rector McCoy was born July 23, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to William Russell Rector and Grace Mildred Hall Rector.

She died Monday afternoon September 21, 2026 at Hight House hospice in Conway, AR.

Mary Lou had one sibling, a sister, Maxine Luella Rector, who preceded her in death on July 14, 2010 at age 75 in Phoenix, AZ.

Her immediate & extended family were members of Barberton Church of Christ in Barberton, OH.

In her senior year of high school, Mary Lou met her future husband Lowell E. McCoy. Sr. on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. After high school, she joined Lowell as students at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. They were married July 21, 1950 in Barberton.

Mary Lou and Lowell had four children. Rhonda Jo McCoy Anthony (Leroy) Columbia, MO; Lowell E. McCoy, Jr. (Becky) Harrisburg, MO; William Lyle McCoy (Kay) North Little Rock, AR; Nancy Lou McCoy Bond (Gordon) Conway, AR. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou served along side Lowell in ministries in 5 states. In addition to teaching her children, she also taught Sunday School, played the piano, hosted missionaries in their home, went on foreign mission trips, and served in Church camps and VBS each summer well into their 70's. In her 30's, during their ministry in Columbia, MO, she provided Sunday morning church shuttle service for students in three colleges there. She was fondly remembered by many of those students years after their graduation. Into their 80's, Lowell & Mary Lou picked up children for church assemblies & sometimes kept them in their home.

Lowell preceded her in death at age 94 on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Ridgemere Assisted Living Memory Care Unit in Conway, AR. They were members of Robinson & Center Church of Christ since they relocated to Conway from their last ministry of 4 years with the Christian Church of Jacksonville, Jacksonville, AR. Throughout her entire 95 years in every relationship, Mary Lou did her best to be Christ-like, functioning as a faithful steward of the physical and spiritual resources entrusted to her. She will be missed by many, but she is right where she prepared to be for many decades. She is no longer frail and feeble. She no longer suffers aches, pains, or injuries. Those days are in the past as she enjoys her perfect eternal body in the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior forever in heaven.

The McCoy family greatly appreciates the loving care provided by the staff of Conway Regional Medical Center & Hight House (hospice), both in Conway, AR.
