Mary Scudder

Mary Frances Key Scudder was born on May 26, 1938, to parents Leonard G. & Ida McClain Key. On April 27, 2024, she went to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior.

 

She graduated from Bauxite High School in 1955 and attended Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her degree in 1958. Mary met David Martin Scudder Sr. and they were joined as one on November 29, 1958.

 

She was an active member of Winfield United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas and later at Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She loved participating in her Sunday School Class as well as her UMW circles.

 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years David M. Scudder; her parents; sister, Doris Scudder (Herbert); and brother Leonard G. Key, Jr. (Sylvia).

 

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Scudder Ash (Bubba); son, David (Marty) Scudder, Jr.; grandchildren, Whitney Leigh Scudder, David M "Trey" Scudder III (Samantha), Braylon Ash (Lauren), Tanner Ash (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Lilly Scudder, Justin “JJ” Scudder, Michael Ann Ash, Carlisle “CC” Ash, Beckett Ash; her longtime four-legged companion, Louie; special longtime friends, The Marbles, The Reduses, The Griffins, The Dillahuntys, The Stecks, and The Fergusons; as well as other numerous friends and relatives.

 

A service celebrating the life of Mary Scudder will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Piney Grove Church, Hot Springs, AR, with Pastor Scott Gallimore officiating.  Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Rockport Cemetery, Malvern, AR.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Piney Grove Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
