Mary Kathryn Squires

     Mary Kathryn Squires was a woman of unwavering dedication and a heart full of compassion and a spirit rooted in strength. She gave endlessly of herself—to her family, her friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her resilience inspired those around her, and her kindness left a lasting imprint that will never fade. She lived a life defined by devotion, grace, and selflessness, and her legacy will continue to shine in the lives she touched so deeply.

     Kay, 89, is survived by her son Bobby Wayne Squires, Jr. (Robbin), brother Gabe Rutherford, sister Ellen Rutherford King (Harry), sister-in-law Nancy Rutherford Clark, grandchildren Tiffany Squires Mraz (Luke), Keith Allen Squires, Kayla Rising (Billy), great-grandson Wryatt Squires, cousins Scooter and Mary Helen Pratt and more than 20 nieces and nephews.

     Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Bobby Wayne Squires, Sr., her parents William Keith Rutherford, Sr. and Mary Louise Pratt Rutherford, brothers William Keith “Bill” Rutherford, Jr. and Al Haywood Rutherford.

     Kay grew up on Arkansas Avenue in North Little Rock and attended North Little Rock High School, married at 17, and went directly into the workforce. Kay always enjoyed her family and extended family hosting barbecues.

     The family extends a sincere thank you to Ronnie Colclasure for all his help with care for Kay.

     Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30. 2026, at Rest Hills Memorial Park. 

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation.
