Matthew Adam Kersey, age 43, of Kirby, left his earthly home for his heavenly home and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

He was born on July 27, 1982, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Matt was the son of Chris Kersey and Denise Adams Howard, and he had a special and enduring relationship with his “Mammaw Mary” and “Pappaw Billy”. He was preceded in death by his mother and his son, Calek Trey Kersey.

Matt was a skilled athlete at Kirby High School, playing both basketball and baseball, and he graduated from Kirby in 2000. Matt married the love of his life, Alisha, on November 11, 2011. Matt was known for his big smile, his big heart, and for being a hard worker. He was also very handy and would always lend a hand. Most of all, Matt loved his family. He was a loving husband, dad, brother, son, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. While heaven has gained, Matt will be deeply missed by all remaining here who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Alisha Kersey; his children, Axel Kersey, Alec Moss, and Addison Moss; his father, Chris Kersey; his siblings, Chase Kersey, Reed Kersey, Josh Howard, and Bradley Howard; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Kersey; his maternal grandparents, Terry and Kay Adams; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to services on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating.
