Matthew Harris White

Matthew Harris White, 43, of North Little Rock, AR passed away April 14, 2024. He was born on November 29, 1980 in Thomasville, GA to the late Roy M. “Dusty” White, Jr. and Sylvia W. White.

Matt was truly a big person, not only in stature, but also in heart.  He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend; but, his most cherished role was as father to his princess, Helen Ray.  He loved cooking with his daughter, and teaching her the way around the kitchen. It would be fair to say that Helen and her fur brother, Three, ate like royalty.

Whether in intellectual debate, a game of poker, or late-night patio chat, Matt was always ready with plenty to say or with a good joke to lighten the mood. Some of his best times were spent around his grill, entertaining friends with a delicious midnight meal and off-the-wall trivia.

For those that knew and loved Matt, it was not surprising that kids flocked to him. Nephews, nieces, children of his friends… were always learning something fascinating from their “Uncle Matt.” But, more importantly, they always felt seen, liked and loved by him. Just as he was a loyal, stubborn and true friend to his adult friends, he was a gentle and tender companion to his young friends.

One of Matt’s favorite quotes was, “There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”  Somehow, there’s more light today because our world has cracked a bit since we lost him. But we know he is already in fierce debates with Presidents, Popes, and the Apostle Paul – as  Jesus leans in, listens, and laughs at the uproar of it all.

He is loved and remembered by his daughter, Helen White and her mother, Dani White; his mother, Sylvia White; his brother, Michael (Elizabeth) White; nephews Davis and Harris White; aunt Esther White; uncle Miller Pope along with a multitude of extended family and friends.
