Maxine Ward, age 86, of Mountain Pine, gained her wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. She was born on August 14, 1931 in Glenwood, the daughter of James Blake Montgomery and Jessie Jane Williams Montgomery. On February 8, 1949, she married Doyce Ward. She was preceded in death by two sons, Garry Ward and Darrell Ward; one granddaughter, Paige Ward; her parents; two brothers, J.B. Montgomery and Ray Montgomery; and one sister, Erma Jean Wilson. Maxine was a member of Mountain Pine First Assembly of God. She was a homemaker and also worked for the Mountain Pine School District, where she cooked for many years. She is survived by her husband, of 68 years, Doyce Ward of Mountain Pine; two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, Melony Ward of Mountain Pine and Cathy and Larry Joe Gilbreth of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Shane Ward of Mountain Pine, Ginger McEarl of Alexander, Amber Ward and Ashley and Kale Johnson, all of Mountain Pine; one great-granddaughter, Candye and Josh Gamez of Bulverde, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Willie Lou Buck and Barbara Ann and Lester Odell, all of Mountain Pine; nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Mountain Pine First Assembly of God with Rev. Homer LaRue officiating. Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery, near Glenwood under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hargrove, Larry Gilbreth, Kale Johnson, Jimmy Barnes, Dennis Ward and John Ward.
