Melba Munnerlyn

Melba Munnerlyn, 87, of North Little Rock died Wednesday, April 10, 2013. She was born November 23, 1925 in Georgiana, Alabama, to the late Emmett and Estelle McClure Byrd, as one of eight children. She attended school in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School. Melba married Prather Eugene "Rip" Munnerlyn on August 4, 1946. She is survived by one brother, Robert L. "Bob" Byrd (Colleen) of North Little Rock; two daughters: Donna Bosley (Bill) of Benton and Christie White (Moreland) of Osceola; three grandchildren: Chip Bosley (Jennifer), Brennan Bosley (Keri), and Elizabeth White; and four great grandchildren: Garrett, Dillon, Haley and Savannah Bosley. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Rip" Munnerlyn, three brothers: Roland, Gerald and John Donald Byrd and three sisters: Bernice Noakes Richards, Pearl Daly, and Inez Varner Schubert.
Melba was active in community affairs, including North Little Rock Junior League, Lakewood United Methodist Church, Salvation Army, National Homebuilders Association Women's Council, Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary, and Babalou. She was honored as North Little Rock Citizen of the Year and Salvation Army Volunteer of the Year. She was most proud of the Salvation Army Christmas stocking program which she founded. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, traveling, playing bridge and bunko and house boating at Lake Ouachita. Her family will remember her by all of the greeting cards which she faithfully sent on holidays and birthdays.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 15 at 2:00 at Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1922 Topf, North Little Rock 72116, Habitat For Humanity of Saline County, 404 West Walnut, Benton, AR 72015 or Salvation Army, P.O.
