Melva Jean “Mom/Ma” Floyd, 94 of Norman, Arkansas passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Smackover, Arkansas on September 20th, 1930, to William Auston Robbins and Alice Thelma (Rowland) Robbins. She embarked on a life marked by tenacity, unwavering love, and a spirit that defied odds time and time again.
From her early days, it was clear that Melva Jean possessed a remarkable inner strength and a strong will that would see her through life's many challenges. She never shied away from adversity, instead facing each obstacle with courage and a determined spirit that inspired all who knew her.
While many may have known her by the title of “Ma” Melva Jean truly walked the walk, representing the role with an extraordinary level of care, wisdom, and boundless affection. She was a constant source of support, a shoulder to cry on, and a fierce advocate for her family. Her love wasn't just spoken; it was woven into every gesture, every piece of advice, and every moment shared.
Melva Jean had a passion for gardening and enjoyed watching her daffodils bloom across the hillside of her farm. She found joy in the quiet, slow-paced, and steady life of living on that farm. Melva Jean also enjoyed birdwatching at her birdfeeder from her living room window. One of her greatest joys was remembering, watching, and being a part of multiple generations growing up and running around the farm.
Melva Jean is lovingly remembered for her moxie, unwavering determination, infectious laughter, wisdom, and the profound impact she had on countless lives. She was an inspiration, demonstrating that strength and compassion can coexist beautifully in one extraordinary individual. She was a great wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend! She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the power of family and friendship.
She is survived by daughter Tana C Floyd (Norman), grandchildren Sean and Bethany Floyd (Tontitown) Shane and Sarah Floyd (Russellville), great-great-grandchildren Camden and Griffin Floyd (Russellville) Kinslee, Kendall, and Katelyn Floyd (Tontitown) one brother Harlan Robbins (Glenwood), Sister-in-law Royce Robbins (Arkadelphia).
Melva Jean is preceded in death by the love of her life for 70 years Orval Floyd, Son Guy Kevin Floyd, her parents, her brothers Truman (Lucile), Preston, Damon, Sister-in-law Jean, Nephew PFC Dennis Robbins, and a host of Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.
Pallbearers will be Darin Robbins, Gary Robbins, Steve Fisher, Barry Smith, Billy Kibbey, and Ronnie Love.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Boots Massey, Sue Robbins, Royce Robbins, Roy Floyd, Dr. Josh Lindsey, and Elite Home Health.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Robbins Family Cemetery in Caddo Gap, AR.
To celebrate Ma’s lifelong passion for animal care and her belief in giving all creatures a loving home, the family requests that in leu of flowers all donations be made in her memory to Debbie Kibby at 110 Adventist Church Road, Bonnerdale, Arkansas 71933 for Hope Fur Paws Rescue in Lonsdale, AR.
Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
