Melvin Bodine Sr., born May 28, 1941, passed away on October 8, 2026.
Melvin will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger. He got along with everyone, loved to help people, and brought a sense of humor and kindness to those around him. He also had a special love for animals, and his warm, welcoming nature made a lasting impression on every life he encountered.
He served in the Navy for four years, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication and strength. In his working years, he was a roughneck in the oil and gas fields and later spent most of his life as a contractor. He was a man who worked with his hands and took pride in building, creating, and doing for others.
Outside of work, Melvin found joy in hunting, fishing, building and carpentry, and spelunking. These interests reflected his adventurous spirit, his appreciation for the outdoors, and the satisfaction he found in making and exploring.
Above all, Melvin was proud of his family. His children, Anna Uppole and Melvin Bodine Jr., were among his greatest accomplishments, along with the rest of the family he loved so deeply. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Uppole, and Mark; his son, Melvin Bodine Jr.; his sister, Glendena M. Abbott; his grandson, Christopher Uppole; and his granddaughter, Tesla Bodine. Each of them carries forward the memory of his humor, generosity, and loving spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bodine, and by his parents, George and Myrtle Bodine.
Melvin Bodine Sr. leaves behind the memory of a life marked by hard work, good humor, compassion, and deep love for his family. He will be dearly and deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
