Melvin "Monk" Coy Davenport

Melvin Coy “Monk” Davenport, 83, born on October 10, 1942, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully at his home on April 21, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Karin Davenport; parents Esther L. & Coy B. Davenport; a sister Geneva Bryant and brothers Donald Davenport, William Lee “Billie” Davenport and Dennis Davenport, Sr.

He left behind a daughter Susan Meek and granddaughters Mallory Woody (Levi) of Dallas, GA and Shelley Meek of Jacksonville, nephews Michael Davenport (Dixie) and Dennis “Denny” Davenport, Jr. and nieces Rita Davenport Clark, Natalie Hollowell, Carmen Hennelly (Tom), Kirstie Rivera and Keena Melton (Tim).

Monk loved to hunt, work in his garden, sit and talk with friends and neighbors and spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but not more than Dottie, his little Chihuahua Terrier Mix.

A memorial service will be held at the Bethel Methodist Church Pavillion, 7417 Jacksonville Conway Rd, Jacksonville, AR on Wednesday, May 6 at 10 am. Anyone present will be welcome to share a story about Monk. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to The Brent Hutchins Foundation, One More for Brent, 6804 Noble Rd, Jacksonville, AR 72076. A private family burial will be held following the service.
