Michael Holthoff

Michael Holthoff, 42, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2015. He was born on April 20, 1972 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1990 where he left his mark on the game of tennis. Knowing Michael is knowing that Danielle, Abby and Khaki were his life's greatest gifts.

Michael was unparalleled in his loyalty, affection, and dedication. He was more than a coach; he was a friend, a father figure, and a mentor to all. Seventeen years ago, when Michael's niece, Micah, was in third grade at Miss Selma's, she asked him to help her dad coach her team. Without hesitation, Michael agreed. As a result, this team went on to win the Private School Championship in 6th grade, and under his guidance, several of these same girls went on to play in AAU tournaments in high school. He never missed another year of coaching, often two teams at once. He also served as Miss Selma's Athletic Director for years. He was a wonderful and compassionate man, loved greatly by so many whose lives he touched and influenced.

Michael's legacy is one of teaching joy and love to countless children. He was a person of deep passion, integrity, and leadership, seasoned with a tremendous sense of humor. His mischievous grin and quick wit were his trade mark. He will be remembered for his values and his contagious zest for life.

Coach Mike is survived by his wife, Danielle; children Abigail (Abby) and Katherine (Khaki); mother, Ann Whitmore Holthoff, all of Little Rock; father, David Holthoff of Dumas; sisters, Allison Holthoff and Kristin Holthoff Koenigsfest, both of Little Rock; sister-in-law, Tarzah Shaw of Benton; brother-in-law, Brad Quillen of North Little Rock; and mother and father in-laws, Bob and Bobbie Quillen, of Little Rock. Michael attributed his love for fishing and his skilled ability to change a flat tire with success and ease to his beloved father-in-law, Bob, who was more of a dad than a father-in-law. He was also survived by a host of family members, basketball players of all ages, and a multitude of friends.

Michael's life will be celebrated, Tuesday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the Alex Hugg Gymnasium on the campus of Pulaski Academy School, 12701 Hinson Road. Memorials may be made to, "Michael Holthoff Education Fund", 7814 "T" Street, Little Rock, AR 72227. Michael left this world a better place, simply because he lived.
