Michael Lynn Plumlee

In remembrance of Mike Plumlee, 64 years old The Man, the Myth, the Legend Mike always did things 110%. No matter what it was, he was always "all in." He lived that way, and he loved that way. He was a kind man with a heart of gold that made friends wherever he went. It didn't matter if it was the 80 year old he met while browsing the deals at one of the many auctions he found or one of the local kids at a sporting event, he'd go home another friend richer. The saying was definitely true with him, he never met a stranger. He always had great stories to tell and open arms to welcome a weary soul. He was the type of man that would literally give you the shirt off his back. He had a way of making most people feel at ease, a trait you don't always find anymore. Mike liked to describe himself as an "old hippy." You could catch him listening to rock-n-roll or playing cards when he wanted to relax. He enjoyed life on the farm with his wife, Holly, whom he loved with all he had. They traveled as often as their schedules allowed and made a point to visit Sedona, Arizona numerous times. It was one of their favorite places. They enjoyed canoeing the Buffalo River as well. Mike also found his place in the horse world and enjoyed the friendships he made along the way. He leaped wholeheartedly into the things he knew his loved ones loved. He accepted all they brought to the table and loved them for it. Mike also excelled at his career. He was a natural salesman from the beginning. Even before he officially worked in sales, he "sold" his employees on his way of thinking and getting things done. He could sell sawdust to a lumber yard. He just had a natural ability and it would prove useful at his last career. His family always joked that he'd work until the day he died. Little did we know how true it would be. He was sending contracts the week before he passed because even in the midst of his illness, he wanted to make sure Holly was taken care of. He always did a great job of taking care of his family and his many responsibilities. Mike worked hard and played just as hard. He loved to go watch his grandkids play baseball or volleyball or ride horses, whatever they were into at the moment. He always supported them in their endeavors. He'd take them to the park and you wouldn't be surprised to catch him chasing them around. You'd never know from the amount of visits that his grandchildren lived over six hours away. He was always active in their lives and took great pride in watching them grow up. They all knew they held a special place in his heart and loved him very much. Mike passed away in his home on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his wife Holly, his children Zach (Jackie) Johnson, Laura (Jon) Sanderson, and Sara (Michael) Krantz, and five grandchildren: Jon, Christian, Aubree, Addyson, and Jianna. Mike was preceded in death by his father John Plumlee and his mother Velma Smith-Plumlee.
