Miguel Alfredo Mendez Lopez, age 73, of Glenwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

 

He was born on May 2, 1949, in sonsonate Salcoatitan Barrio las Flores, El Salvador, the son of Francisco Lopez and Maria Otilia Mandez.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alejandra Mandez; and his brother, Maximiliano Cortez.

 

Miguel was an avid outdoorsman, who took great solace in spending time every morning at either the Caddo River or the lake, where he would read his Bible and pray.  His faith was very important to him and he always made a point to share his love for his Savior.  Often times, he might meet someone he felt needed to know his Savior’s love and he would take great joy in making sure he offered to share his blessings.  He was a member of Ministerio Lirios del valle casa de paz in Glenwood and was employed with Cordova Used Auto Sales in Glenwood, where he loved his job as a driver, and everyone he worked with.

 

Even at the age of 73, Miguel still enjoyed going hiking in the mountains, and he truly loved family and friend gatherings and cookouts, especially the great food and wonderful conversations.  He was always super friendly and had an outgoing personality, so that once you met him you couldn’t help but like him and enjoy his company.  Miguel also enjoyed watching soccer, especially his two favorite teams, Barcelona and Tigres demexico.  Miguel will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by his brother, Jose Francisco Mendez Lopez of El Salvador; his special nephews, Herber Mandez Lopez of Glenwood and Jaime Ernesto Mandez Lopez of Houston, Texas; his special niece, Patricia Arely Mandez Lopez of El Salvador; his special friends who he considered his family, Victor Cordova and Lidia Cordova, Sofia Cordova, Paula Cordova Flores and Telmo Flores, Juan Hernandez and America Martinez Hernandez, Victor Gaitan, all of Glenwood; numerous extended family and a host of wonderful friends.

    

A Celebration of Miguel’s life will be held at 8:00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2023, in the Glenwood Hispanic Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Victor Cordova, Bro. Herber Navarro and Pastor Miguel Hernandez officiating.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home - Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.

Nació el 2 de mayo de 1949 en sonsonate Salcoatitan Barrio las Flores, El Salvador, hijo de Francisco López y María Otilia Mandez. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; su hermana, Alejandra Mandez; y su hermano, Maximiliano Cortez.

Le sobreviven su hermano, José Francisco Méndez López de El Salvador; sus sobrinos especiales, Herber Mandez Lopez de Glenwood y Jaime Ernesto Mandez Lopez de Houston, Texas; su sobrina especial, Patricia Arely Mandez Lopez de El Salvador; sus especiales amigos a quienes consideraba su familia, Víctor Córdova y Lidia Córdova, Sofía Córdova, Paula Córdova Flores y Telmo Flores, Juan Hernández y América Martínez Hernández, Víctor Gaitán, todos de Glenwood; numerosa familia extendida y una gran cantidad de amigos maravillosos.

 

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de la vida de Miguel a las 8:00 p. m., el viernes 24 de marzo de 2023, en la Iglesia Hispana del Nazareno de Glenwood con el pastor Victor Cordova, Bro. Oficiando Herber Navarro y Pastor Miguel Hernandez.
