Mildred Young Foster, 94, of Little Rock, passed away June 12, 2011. She was born July 28, 1916 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Perry Strother and Donie Trussler Young. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George William Foster, Jr., her brothers, William Young, Churchill Young and Perry Young, and her sisters, Mary Young Stoddard, Clara Young Worthen and Geneva Young Love Shackleford.
Mildred and George were owners of Foster Early American Furniture Store, the first of its kind in Arkansas. They loved the horse races and traveling. Mildred was a bridge player and had the same bridge "buddies" for over 50 years. She loved helping other people. Mildred was a very giving, loving and kind Mom and Grandmother, wife and friend whose gentle way will be greatly missed. She was a member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, George W. Foster III and wife, Dr. Beverly Beadle and her daughter, Libby Foster McDaniel and husband, Don. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Chris McDaniel, Wendy Donley and Matthew Foster; six great-grandchildren, Coplea, Callie, Caris, Cate, Olivia and Tristan; nephews, Mark Young and Bill Gillespie; and niece, Lisa Young Joyce.
Thanks to her very special friend, Earlene Guel, for her love and support and to the staffs at Presbyterian Village and Arkansas Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park Gazebo, officiated by Rev. Dr. Karen Akin and Rev. Dr. Debbie Freeman. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, No. Little Rock, AR 72116 or Presbyterian Village, 510 Brookside, Little Rock, AR 72205.
