d. March 31, 2019

Mildred Reeves

Her work on earth complete, Mildred Louise Wall Reeves, of Little Rock, transitioned home to her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2019. She was joyously reunited with her husband of 72 years, Maurice.

Mildred was born on June 3, 1920 to Kodie E. and Flossie Holland Wall in Commerce, Texas. Mildred lost her beloved mom at the tender age of 6. Her formative years were spent in Hot Springs, Arkansas. During WWII she went to work for the U.S. Government and spent 35 years in government service. Mildred retired in 1982 after working for the IRS for 30 years in the audit division. During those years of service she was appointed to several task forces working on revising audit procedures. These committees took her to Oklahoma City, OK, Austin, TX and Washington, D.C. It was in Washington D.C. that she worked for several months at a time over a three year period helping revise and write new procedures of the IRS. After retirement, Mildred volunteered in the IRS Vista program to aid people needing help in filing their tax returns.

Mildred was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School class for over forty years at Immanuel Baptist Church. Maurice, as a deacon, often called on shut-in church members or those in nursing homes and she loved going with him to visit and often took homemade treats or flowers to them. She was a charter member of Tyler Street Baptist Church where she taught a boys' or girls' Sunday School class for many years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice H. Reeves; her parents, Kodie E. and Flossie Holland Wall; her grandparents, Michael and Annie Callahan Holland and Jessie W. and Priscilla Stone Wall; her stepmother, Nobie Buell Wall; her beloved brothers, Morris D. and Kenneth Wall; and her dear sister-in-law, Ima Jean Wall.

Left to cherish her memory are her only child, Karen Reeves Jones (Bob); her precious granddaughters, Michelle Hayden (Jon), Suzanne Vest (Craig) and Katherine Ryan (Aaron); the eight adored grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Hayden, Jackson, Grace, and Anna Kate Vest, Caleb, Kayla Grace and Kaitlyn Ryan; her dear friend and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hill Wall; her dear friend and sister-in-law, Mary Bailey Cook; nieces, Linda Wall Rainwater, Teresa Wall Schnebly, and Gaye Wall Harper; a nephew, Mike Wall, as well as a host of other family members and dear friends.
Many thanks for the support and care shown to Mimi by the staff at P.V.N.R. of Little Rock. A special thanks for their loving care to Vicky, Cindy and Ashley of Hospice.
