Mildred Suggs

Mildred Melugin Suggs age 89, of Arkadelphia, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Little Rock. She was born April 2, 1928 in Arkadelphia to the late Joseph Franklin and Elizabeth Laura Freeman Melugin. Mildred was a caretaker, taking care of those in need.

She loved to handcraft, giving many of her handcraft items away. Mildred was a experienced quilter and a former member of the Quilter's Guild. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed attending church services at the Plaza.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. C. Suggs; two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors are her four children, Sherry Lynn Mettler (Jesse) of Mesquite, Texas, Jackie Suggs (Renee) of Hollywood Arkansas, Susan Diane Garner of Shannon Hills, Arkansas, and Joe Byron Suggs (Kerry) of Sulphur Springs, Texas; ten grandchildren;nine great-grandchildren and a beloved niece, Beth Suggs Marshall of Arkadelphia.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 28th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11:30 AM Thursday until service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Greg Mettler, Jeremy Mettler, Christopher Garner, Colby Suggs, Jared Suggs and Brian Winegardner. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Hinkle and Andrew Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the American Heart Association.
