Mildred Vien

Mildred K. Vien passed from this life peacefully Monday October 29, 2012. She was born in Crossroads, Tennessee New Year's Day 1918, the daughter of Royal H. and Ausie Lee Hines Kirby, who pre-deceased her. She was married to Arthur D. Vien in 1944 until his death in 2012. They met in Little Rock, Arkansas where Mildred had moved to attend and was graduated from Beauty College and practiced as a cosmetologist for many years. She and Art spent over 20 years in the Washington, D.C. area. They eventually returned to Arkansas, living in Sherwood up until his death and she was living there at the time of her passing. Mildred and Art had one child, Rhonda Lynn Vien, who pre-deceased her in 2011. Mildred is survived by one grandchild, Michael Oliver, who resides in New Port Richey, Florida along with his four sons Troy Oliver, Matthew Oliver, Landon Oliver and Chasen Oliver, who are Mildred's great-grandsons. Mildred Vien is also survived by one brother, Finis J. Kirby of North Little Rock, AR. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Dora Escue and Hazel Pierce and three brothers, Earnest Kirby, James Warren Kirby and Royal H. Kirby, Jr. Mildred was a long time member of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, Sherwood, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Dorcas House Ministry or the Riverside Ministry in care of the Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, 117 West Maryland Ave., Sherwood, AR 72120.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
