Carey Baskin

Carey Baskin, 83, of North Little Rock passed away peacefully in his home on April 4, 2023, with his beloved wife of 62 years, Phyllis Davis Baskin, by his side.

He is preceded in death by his father, Milton Curtis Baskin, his mother, Willie Kate Fletcher and his sister, Frances Lasiter, all of Covington, TN. He is survived by his brother, Danny Baskin (Sandy) of Belton, MO.

He will forever be missed by his two daughters, Karen Baskin Gring (Thomas) and Debra Baskin Miller (Blake), both of Little Rock, AR. His five grandchildren: Thomas Jr., John Tyler and Mary Kate Gring; Brooks and James Miller; and his great grandchildren: Stella Rae and Beau Thomas Gring.

Carey established a respected career in Public Affairs, influencing public policy for telecommunications companies including Southwestern Bell, AT&T, Alltel and Verizon. When he retired, he continued to lobby for companies and causes he cared about. He also served his country in the Army National Guard.

Carey enjoyed a life well lived. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman, an avid golfer, and a certified pilot. He and Phyllis traveled the world, scuba diving with friends. He was a lover of gardening, cultivating vegetables to share with friends and neighbors each summer. After he retired, he could be found at his farm in Scott, AR where he established a beautiful pecan orchard. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family at the farm.

A service will be held on Monday, April 10th, 2023 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 E C Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Memorials can be sent to Park Hill Baptist Church at the address above and/or Union Rescue Mission Little Rock, 3001 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR 72206.
