Modell Womack Burr, 98, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on August 29, 2025.  She was born in Star City on January 24, 1927, to the late Joseph W. Womack and Eva Dell Butler Womack.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis T. Burr; her brothers, Wes Womack and A.L. Womack; her three children:  John M. Burr, Danny T. Burr, and Ann Calkins; and one granddaughter, Katy Lewis.

Modell is survived by three grandsons:  Jeff Burr and Shawn Burr of Little Rock, and James Harper (Mandie) of Alexandria, Virginia; three great-grandchildren:  Amelia Harper, Emmet Harper and Coraline Harper of Alexandria, Virginia; and one nephew, Ronnie Womack (Martha) of Pine Bluff.  Also surviving her is her son-in-law, Steve Calkins of Conway, Arkansas.

Modell had a sharp wit and was able to quote scripture appropriate to every conversation.  Until very recently, she was still living at home, reading her Bible and making her own cornbread.  Time spent with her always included uplifting laughter and a blessing to the visitor.

Modell worked for nearly forty years at the Baptist Book Store in Little Rock which later became Lifeway Christian Bookstore.  She loved her Lord deeply and was a faithful prayer warrior.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas.

Modell wished to give special thanks to her son-in-law, Steve, for all of his help and kindness for so many years, as well as to special friends: Virginia Osment, Bonnie Pearson, Becky Kellam, Debbie Rowan, Dr. Mark and Cindy Martindale, and Pastor Edd Spurlock for their friendship and care.

Funeral service honoring Modell will be held on Friday, September 5 at 11:00 AM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street in Benton, Arkansas. Pastor Edd Spurlock will officiate.  A Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Garnett, Arkansas at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 211 S. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas  72015.
