Caralou Ligon Millar, 86, died Friday, March 25, 2016. She had a quick wit, an easy smile and a special touch with fried chicken. She was kind and diligent, a keeper of family history and an impeccably clean house. Her hands were never not soft. She was an avid reader, a talented pianist and violinist and a doting wife, mother and grandmother. “Love you, hon,” were her goodbyes. Born Sept. 10, 1929, in Conway, to the late James Ward and Ladelle Sherman Ligon, she graduated from Conway High School, attended the Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a degree in music education. While there she was a member of the Sword and Shield Honor Society and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She was also a violin teacher, a member of the Arkansas State Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Society. She was a fifth generation member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway, and a 59-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George D. Millar, Jr. of Conway. She is survived by her son Mike Millar (Karen) of Searcy, daughter Dana Millar of Maumelle, grandson Lindsey Millar (Caroline) of Little Rock, and great-grandsons, August and Emmett Millar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church in Conway, 1610 Prince Street, Conway, Arkansas 72034 or Methodist Family Health Foundation, P.O. Box 56050, Little Rock, Arkansas 72215-6050. A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 1 PM .
