Muriel Florene Parton

Muriel Florene Parton, age 92, of Glenwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

She was born in Amity on May 11, 1933. She was the daughter of Vernon and Mary Bardwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, J Lee Bardwell; and her husband, James Eugene Parton.

On January 22, 1955, Florene married Eugene Parton. She was Baptist in her faith. She worked for Alltel phone company as a telephone operator for 25 years until she retired. She loved gardening, especially flowers. Florene was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bart (Crystal) Parton of Glenwood, Brent and Sherry Parton of Texarkana, and Joe and Tammy Parton of Glenwood; her six grandchildren, Krystal, Derek, Josh (Haley), Brittany (Devon), Tony (Lahoma), and Haley (Davey); several great-grandchildren; her brother, James Bardwell; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 2:30 PM at Bethel Cemetery with Bro. Tony Hill officiating. 

Visitation will be held prior to services on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
