Services for Myra "Mema" Shurley Anthony, 89, of Beebe, AR are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, AR.
Mema passed away peacefully November 5, 2017 in Searcy.
She was born October 9, 1928 in Beebe, AR to Joe M. Shurley and Ina Harvey.
Mema grew up in the Opal Community. She met Coy Anthony in 1946 while attending college. The two were married September 7, 1952 and they spent the next 55 years together. Mema was a caregiver who had a passion for children. She ran a daycare out of her home for over 44 years along with running the nursery at First Baptist Church for a number of years. Mema had several hobbies including sewing, crocheting, baking and making ceramics. She always cherished her family and always insisted on taking family pictures. Mema loved her Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Beebe. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her Grandson, Chris & Jo Weathers of Scott City, KS; Granddaughter, DeAnna & Bart Brown of Lindale, TX; Grandson, Blake & Ashley Anthony of Canton, TX; Granddaughter, Taylor Trevizo of Conway, AR; Great-Grandchildren: Ashlynn, Emily, Joel, Ronnie, Jacob, Kelsie, Katie, and Karleigh; Niece Diana Gayle and Walter Page; Niece Donna Myers; Nephew Bob Shurley; along with special friends Rose & Mike O'Brien.
Mema is preceded in death by her Parents, Joe & Ina Shurley; Husband, Coy Anthony; Daughter, Deborah Gayle Weathers; Son, Michael Joe Anthony; Brother, Dick Shurley; and Sister, Lavern Shurley.
Memorials may be made to Children's nursery ministry, First Baptist Church, 101 Hwy. 62 W., Beebe, AR 72012.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens
