Myrtis Tidwell, age 91, of Glenwood, died Thursday, August 11, 2011. She was born on April 10, 1920 in the Mount Tabor community near Glenwood, the daughter of Joel Schooley Wright, Sr. and Retter Grant Wright. On July 19, 1941, she was married to Lewin James "Buddy" Tidwell who preceded her in death on May 9, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Celeste Juanice Tidwell and Lanye Kaye Brown; her son, Grant Tidwell; and six brothers. She was a member of the Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Myrtis worked over 18 years at the Indianapolis Glove Factory in Glenwood before she and Buddy began working together on their poultry farm. She is survived by three sons and four daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Manon Tidwell, Harley and Gail Tidwell, Bruce and Karen Tidwell and Jo Ann Tidwell, all of Glenwood; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Haskell Wright of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joel Wright of Glenwood, Darrell "Buster" Wright of Glenwood and Don Wright of Magnet Cove; her sister, Hazel Lee Britt of Royal; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2011, in the Mount Tabor Community Church with Bro. Gene Graves officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
