N. Jean Alston McGough, age 80, of Amity, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024. 

She was born in Oden on December 27, 1943, the daughter of Charlie Amerson and Dona Cagle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clyde Alston; her second husband, Tommy McGough; and her two sisters, Marceline Fryar and Frankie Johnson.

Jean was Baptist in her faith. She loved to volunteer, especially at the Glenwood Helping Hand Store. During her career she was an EMT. She loved taking care of chickens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her whole world. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Coleman of Amity; her two grandchildren, Tyler Coleman of Hot Springs and Amber Coleman of Amity; her two sisters, Charlene Skillern of Mountain Pine and Margie Nelson of Dallas, Texas; and her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.


The family would like to thank the Glenwood Helping Hand Store for their love for their family. 

The family will holding memorial services at Black Springs Cemetery at  later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, 209 North 3rd Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
