N. Shields

N. Gregory Shields, 57, of Benton, AR, passed away on November 11, 2020, at home with his family. He was born in Mountain Home, ID on October, 29, 1963 and was the only child of Donald Lee Shields and Rosemary Elizabeth (Parker) Shields.

Greg and his father have owned and operated A Plus Alarm since 1993 and were very active in the Maumelle Chamber and various community organizations. Greg learned many things from his father, including the ability to fix just about anything. He grew up in Houston, TX and graduated high school from Northbrook High School. Greg has always had a passion for cars and football. He played football throughout his childhood and attended the University of Texas in Austin. After a knee injury ended his ability to play, he transferred to the University of Houston to be closer to family. Over the years, he owned various businesses including: A Plus Graphics, Audio Plus, and partnered in a number of other business adventures. In his spare time he enjoyed watching football with friends and family, specifically the Dallas Cowboys & Miami Dolphins. Greg spent several years volunteering his time coaching youth soccer, football, and basketball with Upward and various organizations. He was also a huge part of the softball community, sponsoring and coaching mens, womens, and co-ed teams for many years.

Greg is preceded in death by his mother: Rosemary Shields, both sets of grandparents, and many other beloved family members. Greg is survived by his father Donald Shields (Dolores), his loving wife, Erin (Wilson) Shields; their three boys: Blake (19), Austin (17), and Cole (16); goddaughter, Gabby Heath (15), and many other beloved family members. Greg touched the lives of so many people and being an only child, he considered many of his friends to be family. Pat Ammons (April) and Stephe Worley (Robin) held a very special place in his heart.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice Home Care of LR, Smith Funeral Home in Benton, and New Life Church of Saline County , along with the numerous friends, family, and neighbors who have surrounded the family with love and prayers during this time. The family invites you to celebrate Greg’s life on November 20 at New Life Church in Saline County. Visitors may stop by between 6-8 to visit family and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations or notes of encouragement be made to help their three boys navigate through important stages in life without their father. For instance: graduation, college, wedding day, etc.
