Naye Shepherd Hipps passed away Monday, March 26th in Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. Born July 19, 1925 in Dalark, the daughter of Archie Loyd and Lou Ena Donahue Reynolds, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Connie Shepherd, her parents and two brothers Olen and Jewell Reynolds. She was a member of the Dalark Methodist Church and attended services at the Degray Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband Bill Hipps of Degray, daughter Avonne and Bill Petty of Delight, son Bud and Charlotte Shepherd of Arkadelphia, stepdaughter Jo Carol and John Reeder of Arkadelphia, and stepson Kevin Hipps of Conway, sister Gladys Lemons of Sheridan, and brother Carl Reynolds of Dalark. Surviving grandchildren are Mike (Lisa) Petty of Delight, Susan (Keith) Dodson of Dumas, Denise (Stephen) McCoy, Jessie Jo Butler of Arkadelphia, and Blake and Joseph Shepherd of Colorado.
Also are great grandchildren Kyle and Kolt Petty, Emily and Anna Dodson, Destiny (Brad) Runyan, Charity Watson, Kelsey McCoy; great-grandson Nathan Runyan, a special nephew Kenneth Reynolds; and a host of extended family and friends.

Naye and her husband Connie Shepherd operated Gables Restaurant in Arkadelphia between 1946 and 1971. They were very active in Arkadelphia. He was an Arkadelphia volunteer fireman for many years and she delivered coffee to the firemen when it was a bad fire. She was made an honorary fireman for this service. After retirement she served as secretary for the Degray Fire Department.
A 50 year member of the Arkadelphia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas, she served as Worthy Matron, and was Deputy Grand Lecturer, along with other duties.
Please feel her families heartfelt love and thanks for all of you who extended your love and kindness to Naye. The different parts you all played in her life were so important to us and to her. You have been a blessing. She had many wonderful nurses and staff at Twin Rivers that helped make her life better and more comfortable. Thank you for your expertise and concern.

We invite you to a celebration of her life at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Ruggles - Wilcox Chapel with Robert Langley, Marvin Pate, and David Young officiating. Burial will be in the Delamar Cemetery near Manning. Pallbearers - Dusty Thomason, Tommy Medlock, Donald Hatley, John Reeder, Kent Glover and Keith Glover. Mrs. Hipps includes the following as honorary pallbearers: Nickie Thomason, Eddie Graham, Charles Ledbetter, Rick Medlock, Albert Medlock, Jr. Bledsoe, Cecil Smith, Bennie Dodson, Millard Aud, John Cutler, Bud Reeder, Mike French, Bill McCallum, Robert McCallum, and Orville Buck.
