Nell Bean Bardwell

Nell Bean Bardwell age 95, of Glenwood, passed away at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs on Monday, October 27, 2026.

She was born on September 11, 1931 in Center Ridge. Nell was the ninth child of Otis and Minnie Wheeler. She grew up in Richardson Road. Her life was enhanced by a local train that ran from Gurdon to Norman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her eight siblings; her daughter, Lisa Bean; her son, Steve Bean; and her first husband, James “J.K.” Bean.

Nell was a woman of deep faith and gentle strength. Growing up Nell went to school at the two room schoolhouse at Center Ridge until eighth grade and then finished her schooling at Amity High School. She was a go-getter, and had a wonderful work ethic. She loved cooking, collecting recipes, and traveling.

Nell will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the unwavering love she gave to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, James Bardwell of Glenwood; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and David Turnage of Tempton, Iowa; her grandchildren, Ashlin, Winston, Aubriann, Jilian; her four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Winston Turnage, Ashlin Bean, Edsel Danner, and Wayne Wheeler

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating.

Interment will be held at Jones Cemetery.
