Nita Wood

Nita J. Wood 89 of Arkadelphia passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019. Nita was born in Arkadelphia, AR on November 8, 1930 to the late Fred Madden and Lottie Estell (Deaton) Gaither. A Loyal member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, she loved tending to her flowers but mostly she loved tending to her family.

Nita is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Jessie Edward Wood and one daughter Lori Phelps. Nita is survived by her daughter Barbara Hemund and husband Jay, son-in-law Randy Phelps, four grandchildren; Katie Wisener, Crystal Pollock, Michelle Braud and Jessica Phelps, five great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, sister-in-law; Patsy Stiffler and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home with visitation preceding at 1:00 p.m.  Brother John McAnally will officiate the service with interment to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
