Noble Arnold Rees, 82, of Austin, AR, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was born in Austin on February 22, 1938 to Ora Ardell & Molly (Guess) Rees.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nola Lee (Weatherly) Rees. Other survivors are a daughter, Cynthia Thrift, son Barry Rees, granddaughters Crystal (Tammy) Crowder and Ariel Thrift, grandson Brandon (Michelle) Honey, great granddaughters Allison (Whitney) Bush and Kylie Heerd, great grandson Gabe Bowles, and one sister Nora Molder, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Cecil, Coy, Ora (Sonny), Reuben and Alford, sisters Marie, Leva Mae and Laverne, and 2 great grandsons Christopher & Lane Bowles.
Noble was a lifelong member of the 16th Section Community and 16th Section United Methodist church. He was a home builder and carpenter by trade. He joined the Army National Guard in 1960 and served his country for 8 years. In 1959 Noble & Nola bought a 50 acre farm where they have lived their entire married life, and farmed cattle and chickens until just a few years ago. He served his community as Justice of the Peace in the early 1970’s, was President of the 16th Section Community Center Board of Directors and served on the 16th Section Cemetery Board for many, many years.
Noble was a patriarch in his community and for his family and he loved helping people in any way he could without a moment’s hesitation. Everyone who knew Noble loved and honored him every day of his life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday August 4, 2020 at Sixteenth Section Methodist Church with burial at Sixteenth Section Cemetery. Visitation is Monday August 3, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Facemask and social distancing are required.
