Nona Morris

Nona Mae Morris - Her life was well lived, and she was well loved! The Lord called her home in a peaceful manner on Saturday, December 21, 2019 in her 82nd year. This gentle, loving, caring, and deeply religious woman has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed.
Faith and family were the pivotal essence of Nona’s life. She was proud and honored to be the matriarch, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to our large family. Throughout her years and in her final days, she remained a major presence in the lives of each of them. Her guidance to all was not by word, but instead by example. She was one who brought a light so great to the world that even now that she is gone, the light remains.
She was born January 29, 1937 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Aaron and Grace Spence. She married her best friend, J.L. Morris, who preceded her in death in 1988. To their 37-year union, 5 children were born. Phyllis Slatton (Jesse), North Little Rock, AR; Sherry Easter (Richard), North Little Rock, AR; Jimmy Morris (Faith Ann), Beebe, AR; Johnny Morris (Kristi), Clinton, AR; and Larry Morris (Barbara), North Little Rock, AR. Throughout her life she maintained an unwavering love of Jesus, a sweet demeanor, and a presence that touched the hearts of many - who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three of her brothers, Jim, Joe, and Royce.
Her surviving family members are numerous and include: Her five children; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles Spence of Midland, TX, and Jerry Spence of Kaiser, AR; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation is Thursday, December 26, from 6:00–8:00PM at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2019. Burial at Edgewood Cemetery.
