Norene Smith

Norene Smith, 98, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born April 21, 1919 in Killeen, Texas, and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 29, 2017. She was married to S.D. Smith, a career military man, for fifty-six years. Norene was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and White County Extension Club. She enjoyed flowers, crafts, sewing, and gardening and helping others. Everyone knew her as their mother and grandmother, and she was dedicated to her community and church. Norene was always up for the adventures that her children planned for each of her birthdays; hiking, go-carts and a trip to Puerto Rico.
Norene is survived by her children, Billie Howard (Gary), Kay Shields (Bill) and Stephen Smith (Cissy); nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Pete, Tammy, David, Robert, Kari, Wray, Sharla and Austin; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other special friends who she treated as her own children.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Charles David Smith; her parents and twelve siblings.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Antioch Community Church, with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
