Norma Smith

Norma Smith, age 77, of Crystal Springs, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 8:55PM with her husband of almost 62 years holding her hand.

She was born May 27, 1946, the daughter of Cecil Wagner and Olive Bond Wagner in Dumas and raised on a cotton farm with her sister, Betty Lewis, where she met the love of her life, James Smith, at a dairy bar when she was 15 years old.  They had two children, Shannon and Monica, at a very young age so they could all enjoy life together.

Norma had many passions in life.  She loved fishing with her best friend of 50 years, Faye Mitchell.  She enjoyed playing golf so much she opened a golf boutique for ladies only.  She traveled with her husband in their RV with all their pets to every water destination possible.  She taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Madison, Grant, Ashley, Tyler, Aubrey, and Presleigh, about gardening which she learned from her Master Gardening courses.

She was a beautiful lady inside and out.  She tirelessly worked at Safeway, Pine Bluff National Bank, and Servicemasters with a smile on her face at all times.  Norma volunteered her extra time to helping anyone in need with great patience and kindness.   She was a woman of great strength, after fighting Lymphoma, back restoration and Alzheimer’s she succumbed to Vascular Dementia.

She is survived by her husband, James Smith of Crystal Springs; her son, Shannon Smith and his wife, Teresa Taylor, of Clearwater, Florida; her daughter, Monica Smith of Haskel; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
