Norman "Denny" McGonigal

Norman Deneal “Denny” McGonigal, 68, of Austin, AR died at his home on March 12, 2024.

Denny started his career at Remington Arms on October 29, 1973, and after over 42 years he retired on March 4, 2016.

Denny married the love of his life, Dianna, on December 18, 1976. Denny and Dianna were so excited to start a life together. They spent a few years loving one another but were so thrilled to find out they were pregnant. They had twins on February 2, 1981. Randy and Sandy McGonigal were the light of his life. Randy played soccer, baseball, and football. Sandy cheered as a little girl and went on to play in her high school marching band. Denny loved watching them do the things they loved.

Though he loved watching his children do the things they loved, he loved watching them grow into adults and have children of their own. Denny’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured time with his grandkids and loved being their Papaw, never failing to make them smile or miss a baseball game or just keeping up with their BUSY everyday lives.

Denny was preceded in death by his father Burnis Laverelle McGonigal, his mother Mazie Lee Whaley McGonigal; brothers, Michael L. McGonigal and Kavan O. McGonigal; nephew, Brian McGonigal.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianna Beam McGonigal; two children, Randy (Erin) McGonigal and Sandy (Brian) Funderburg; four grandchildren, Blaine Funderburg, Braylon Funderburg, Ansley McGonigal and Miles McGonigal. He is also survived by his brothers, Kelly (Connie) McGonigal, Marcus McGonigal and David (Sherri) McGonigal; brother-in-law, Jessie (Mary Ellen) Bean; nieces Bobbi (John) Varnadore, Shelby Varnadore, Morgan McGonigal, Pricilla McGonigal and Mandy McGonigal; nephew, Shaun Beam; special friends, Charlie and Kathy Hoyle.
