Obituary

Donald P. Brindley of Maumelle, AR went home to Jesus on May 9 at the age of 90. Born July 23, 1929, in Little Rock, Don was the son of Martha and John Penn Brindley. He was a veteran, serving in both the United States Marines and the United States Navy.

Following his service to his country, Don returned to Little Rock, where he went to work at the Best Welding Company. Working side-by-side with his brother-in-law, John Best, Don was an expert welder, devoting 42 years of his life to the company. He retired in 1991 in order to spend more time with the love of his life, Billie Jean Best Brindley, his wife of 69 years. Don spent his later years traveling with Billie Jean and playing golf with his numerous friends at the Maumelle Country Club.

Don will be remembered for his ever-present smile and his endearing sense of humor.Both of them served him well during his years of service at First United Methodist Church of Maumelle. Besides his devoted wife, Billie Jean, Don is survived by his brother Joe (JoAnn) Brindley of Conway, his niece, Brenda Hassellwander of Mountain Home and his nephew, Robert Whitfield Best of Little Rock. He is predeceased by his brothers, A.P., Bill, Charles, Henry, Kenyon and Paul Brindley and his sisters, Ada, Annette and Virginia.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at a date still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Don's honor to First United Methodist Church of Maumelle or the Maumelle Friends of the Animals group. The family would also like to thank the Veterans Home Care team for their loving care and assistance.
