Emily Maurene Rhodes McDade age 90, of Minden, Louisiana formerly of Arkadelphia, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020. She was born November 30, 1929 to E. H. “Dude” and Ruby Lee Fuller Rhodes. She graduated from Donaldson High School in 1947 and Henderson State Teacher’s College in 1960.
Maurene was a member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church in Donaldson since 1952. She was a retired physical education teacher teaching at Central Junior High School in Hot Springs for thirty-six years. She enjoyed water skiing, basketball and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Judith Margaret Rhodes Newman and Norma Janice Rhodes Phelan.
Survivors include two children, Greg McDade and wife, Kathy of Canton, Mississippi and Karyn Gray and husband, Bob of Minden, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Jerry L White II (Tony Langlinais) of Abbeville, LA., Jana White of Minden, LA., Lindsay Blackstock (Lee) of Godley, TX., Jim McDade (Misty) of West Monroe, LA., Josh McDade (Gretchen) of Charlotte, NC., Laura McDade (Chris Prem) of Destin, FL., and Lindsey Tanner (Ken) of Lisbon, LA.; twelve great-grandchildren, Bailey Goad, Preston Darst, Ashley McDade, Kyson McDade, Kyndahl McDade, Ashton McDade, Adyson McDade, Colin McDade, Caroline McDade, Avery Tanner, Owen Tanner and Jace Tanner; and one great-great granddaughter, London Marie Jackson.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Neil Phelan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Ouachita Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Tuesday until service at the church.
Pallbearers are Jim McDade, Ken Tanner, Josh McDade, Tim Phelan, Justin Shehane and Kemp Smith.
Due to COVID19 and C.D.C recommendations, social distancing will be practiced, and face coverings will be required.
