Listen to Obituary

Pamela K McConnell-Long, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on August 19, 1954, Pamela’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and steadfast devotion to her family.

Pamela’s journey was marked by milestones that reflected her determination and spirit. In 1993, she proudly achieved her GED, a milestone she shared with her daughter, showing both the importance she placed on learning and her constant encouragement of those she loved. Professionally, Pamela dedicated her energy and warmth to creating a loving home as a homemaker, nurturing those around her with a steadfast and caring presence.

Pamela’s personality was as vibrant as it was strong. Known for her spunky nature and remarkable strength—both mental and physical—she inspired those around her with stories of resilience, even in the face of adversity. Amidst countless health challenges, Pamela never lost her will to fight, always pressing forward with tenacity and courage. Family members remember, often with a smile, tales of Pamela holding her own and even “putting the hurtin’” on the men in her family, her strength leaving an indelible mark on generations.

Her interests brought joy and levity to her days. Pamela loved going to the casino and watching the horse races with her late husband J.L. Sr.

Above all, Pamela’s heart belonged to her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild deeply—each held a special place in her life. Her legacy carries on through her son J.L. Long Jr.; her daughter Brandy Heller (Steve); brother, Michael Paul (Gail Harmon); sisters, Diane Cody (Ricky) Darlene McConnell, Shannon Cudvat (John), and Dori McConnell. Pamela treasured her grandchildren Annie Heller, Brandon Heller (Kelli Jo), Dakota Jeffries, and Justin Jeffries; great-grandchildren, Izabelle Jeffries, Ashton Jeffries; and Breckett Heller. Pamela also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

Pamela now joins her parents, Otis McConnell and Virginia Beard; her husband, J.L. Long Sr.; her daughter, Rickie Long-Crouse; her brother, Terry McConnell; and her sister, Becky Leeder; who preceded her in passing. Their memory lived ever in her heart, just as Pamela’s memory will live on in those she leaves behind.
