Patricia "Pat" Richens, a devoted Registered Nurse and cherished member of the 70 West Church of Christ, passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on September 24, 1935, Pat was a woman whose life was marked by dedication to her family, her faith, and her profession.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marion Hawkins, and sister, Judy Straut.
Pat earned her Bachelors degree in Nursing and devoted many years to the nursing profession, where she was known for her compassionate care and professionalism. Her love of puzzles, gardening, and watching soap operas brought joy to her daily life. She was an avid viewer of Wheel of Fortune and anything on the PBS channel, and had a particular fondness for mint chocolate chip ice cream. Known for her lively spirit, she loved family functions, mostly because it gave her an opportunity to boss everyone around, and had a unique way of keeping her family entertained with her favorite phrase, "Eegads," a term so beloved that her relatives would call just to ask how "Eegads" was doing.
She is survived by her loving family, Robert and Michelle Richens; Russell Richens; Paula and Bob Crippin; and a large and loving extended family including grandchildren Rhandi Richens, Robert and Brook Richens, Ryan and Krista Richens, Paul Richens, Resa Hill, Olivia and Sophia Williams, as well as great-grandchildren Toryn, Tilynn, Lydia, Layne, Heath, Kameron, and Emma Kate. They, along with many others whose lives she touched, carry forward her legacy of warmth and kindness.
Visitation will be held on June 5, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home - Hot Springs, located at 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913. This will be followed immediately by a memorial service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
Pat's dedication to her family, community, and profession remains a testament to a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her spirited personality and unwavering love for those around her.
