Patrick Murphy

March 21, 1938 — March 1, 2021

Patrick Murphy, age 82, of Berryville, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was born on March 21, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Pat Murphy and the late Mary Koblezck Murphy White.

He proudly served his country after enlisting into the United States Navy in 1955. He was a mechanic onboard the USS Hull during the Cold War.

Pat lived life to the fullest, never wasting a day. After his time in the military, he spent 13 years working for Columbia Records as chief maintenance where he would meet his wife of 49 years, Lillie. He and his wife went on to work together at Trailmobile and retired at age 62. He loved to travel. He was known for his love of motorcycles and made many trips from Illinois to California on his bike. His wife, Lillie, and daughter, Carrie, would join him, with Carrie riding in the sidecar. He made their trips memorable and fun by hitting all the historical spots and amusement parks. He also spent his leisure time traveling with his family in their RV. Upon his retirement, he received his certification to work on heating and air units. He spent most of the winter months in Florida RV parks with his wife, Lillie. Pat enjoyed collecting coins, gardening and fishing. His most memorable fishing trip was with his father-in-law, brother-in-law and best friend; a trip that led to a lifelong storytelling of “When Big John fell into the Pond.”

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Murphy and daughter, Carrie Murphy Sanders. Also surviving are his two sons, Brian Murphy and Brad Murphy; two step-children, Neona Underhill and Tony Thomson; four siblings, Mike Murphy, Carrie Murphy Bland Miller, Charlie White and Bob White; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

At Pat’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Those wishing to honor his life may make donations in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
