Listen to Obituary

Patty Ann “Pat” Moorman, 94, passed away surrounded by the love of a life well lived and knowing her family will carry her spirit forward with joy, gratitude, and plenty of stories worth repeating.

Pat was one of a kind - known to all as ”mother” she had a strong will, a sharp mind, and a heart as big as they come. She grew up in Alpine, moved to Arkadelphia, where her personality was as memorable as her laugh and where she quickly became known as a force in her family. In a time when women were rarely the ones running the show in business, Pat stepped confidently into that role, helping build and strengthen several family ventures through hard work, determination, and her natural gift for making things succeed.

She was proud, capable, and full of grit but also full of humor and charm. Pat had a way with words that made people smile instantly. She had her own language, and if you were one of the fortunate enough to know her own terms of endearment, you knew you were loved. She was famous for her original Southern sayings, including her sweet habit of asking for “maple” instead of a hug, and her endearing references to those she loved most as her “sweet beans.” Her expressions were uniquely hers, and they brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.

Married to the love of her life , Bill Moorman, for 60 years. Together they built businesses, built a loving family and devoted themselves to teaching positions and leading roles for the Church of Christ.

Pat Moorman leaves behind a legacy of resilience, humor, and love - and a lifetime of stories that will continue to be told with laughter, pride, and the kind of affection only someone like Pat could inspire.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Bill Moorman, father, W.O.”Shine” Duce, mother, Ina Williams Duce, brother, Captain Bobby Lee Duce, nephew, William Lindsey Duce, Willard Aubrey “Dub” Duce, Lottie Glover Duce, Judi Duce Stuart, Colbern Cox Stuart lll, Don Faulkner, Mark Faulkner, Maude Faulkner, James David “Bo” Faulkner, Claude D. Faulkner, William Raymond Thornton, Virginia Faulkner Thornton, Jimmy Don Thornton, Verna & Sam Moorman, and dear family friends, Austin and Ola Merle Wingfield.

Pat is survived by her beloved daughter, Melinda Moorman Young; Melinda’s husband, Blair Young,Jr.; and their children, Christine, JB lll, and Jax, who were a great joy in Pat’s life. Family; Johnnie Faulkner, Snowda Faulkner Giggleman(William), Danny Faulkner (Jessica), Dolores Duce Summers, Deanna Duce Hatfield (Dr. Patrick), John Burris Duce (Sherri), David Duce, Billy Bob Thornton (Connie), John David Thornton (Jennifer), Lynn Sheets Stuart, Croix Stuart, Cleda Faulkner, Debbie Glover, Kadra & Roger Wingfield, Clark & Lane. Her family & friends will remember her not only for her strength and independence, but for her wit, her warmth, and the unmistakable spark she carried through 94 remarkable years.

We would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Twin Rivers for the attention and care they gave while Pat was there.

In her honor, may we all ask for a little more “maple,” and to add a bit more sparkle to your words, and live with the fearless spirit she showed every day.
