Paula Sue Pate-Muncy, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and inspiring educator, passed away on January 3, 2025, at Hospice Home Care. Born on February 14, 1950, in Lakehurst, New Jersey, she touched the lives of many throughout her vibrant 74 years.
Paula dedicated herself to the field of education as an elementary school teacher for over 32 years, imparting her love of learning to countless students. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her commitment to her family and friends. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she proudly served as a Razorback Beauty, representing the university during the prestigious Cotton Bowl.
In her personal life, Paula was known for her warmth and creativity. Many recognized her as "Lala," a name affectionately bestowed by her grandson, Matthew Vint. She had a flair for art, relishing in painting and crafting. Together with her loving husband of 35 years, David Muncy, they transformed slates into antique-looking treasures, showcasing their work at various craft fairs throughout Arkansas.
Paula and David also shared a passion for travel, embarking on extensive road trips that spanned across the United States. From Virginia to Miami, San Diego to Yellowstone, they explored countless destinations, making lasting memories along the way. Their National Park pass allowed them the opportunity to visit some of the most breathtaking parks in the country, while small towns such as Santa Fe, Taos, Durango, and especially Mackinac Island held a special place in their hearts. Among other adventures, they enjoyed a memorable vacation to the islands off the coast of Florida for a delightful shelling experience.
An exceptional cook, Paula's kitchen was a place of love, where everyone eagerly anticipated her delicious meals. Her sons cherished her King Ranch Chicken Casserole and Cavender's Chicken, which were a staple during family gatherings, showcasing her nurturing spirit and culinary talents.
Paula is survived by her loving husband, David Muncy of Little Rock, Arkansas; her three sons, Gabriel Vint of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Zachary Vint and wife Kristin of Little Rock, and Eli Vint of Little Rock; her grandson, Matthew Vint; a brother, Michael Pate and wife Monika of Bryan, Texas; two sisters, Ginger Irvin and husband Brady of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and Christie Pate of Columbia, South Carolina; along with a host of family members and friends who love Paula and will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Pate, and her mother, Georgia Belle (Herrington) Pate.
Per Paula's wishes, family will hold a private Celebration of Life service at a later date.
Paula's legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering support will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. She was surrounded by her close family during her final moments, a testament to the strong bonds she formed throughout her life.
