Penny Ann Stroud-Satterfield was born on December 2, 1960, and passed away on March 18, 2026.
Penny was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Mirtie Mae Choate and Jimmy Wayne Stroud. She was raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where she built lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community she loved.
Penny was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She also had a deep love for both people and animals—if it had three legs, one eye, or was on its ninth life, Penny would take it in and love it as her own. She had a beautiful spirit, a warm heart, and a gift for making everyone around her feel welcomed, valued, and never alone.
She is survived by her loving partner, Tony Bures; her daughters, Cortney Golden (Chad) and Natalie Johnson (Chad); her brothers, Gary Stroud and Cody Edwards; and her sister, Kayse Stinnett. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren—Gage Satterfield, Austin Murray, Lauren Stewart, Josie Golden, Bailey Johnson, Gatlen Ratcliff, Drake Golden, and Tyler Johnson—as well as her great-grandchildren, Knova James Ratcliff, Destin Murray and AJ Stewart, all of whom were truly the light of her life.
Penny was preceded in death by her mother, Mirtie Mae Choate; her father, Phillip Wayne Edwards; and her sister, Darrah Lauren Grant.
Penny didn’t give birth to all the children she loved, but she made a lasting impact on many lives. Those who held a special place in her heart include Kara Simmons (Roger Simmons), T.J. House, Symphonee Kellum, Kameisha Kellum, and Blake and Jennifer Satterfield.
Penny was full of life, love, and a special kind of magic that touched everyone she met. She would want us to celebrate her life, finding comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven with our Lord and Savior. Her spirit, joy, and love will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
A note from Penny:“I want to say thank you to each of you for your friendship, the wonderful memories, the laughs and the tears, and most of all, the love that you showed me.”
A celebration of Penny’s life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., North Little Rock, Arkansas.
