Phyllis Lee Hilburn

Listen to Obituary

Phyllis Lee (Davis) Hilburn of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 24, 2026. She was born April 8, 1946 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Edward and Camille Davis. As the eldest of five children, Phyllis learned early the importance of family, a value she carried with her throughout her life.

Phyllis had an independent spirit and a creative side. She could figure out how to fix, build, bake, sew, or create just about anything.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially gardening, baking, and jigsaw puzzles. Her family and friends were often recipients of her homemade cookies. Even in recent years, when she was largely homebound, Phyllis continued to find ways to show others she cared. She baked rolls and cookies and faithfully mailed cards to members of her church, reminding others that love and kindness know no boundaries.

Phyllis was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, where she maintained meaningful connections with her church family and helped with the ministry any way she could.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Camille Davis; her husband, Jimmy Hilburn; and her son, Glynn Pope

She is survived by her sons: Brett Pope (Jan) of Searcy, Arkansas, and Robert Livingston, Jr (Selena) of Inverness, Florida; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, including Aaron Pope, Corey Pope (Ane Elise), and Harper, who all held a special place in her heart.

She is also survived by her four siblings: Audrey Burks of Sherwood, Arkansas; Diane Scruggs (Ray) of Thompson's Station, Tennessee; Larry Davis (Terry) of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and Susan Shaw (Artie) of Pierce, Idaho; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Phyllis leaves behind her beloved dog, Baxter, who provided companionship and comfort, especially during the years she spent at home.

Phyllis will be remembered for her independent spirit, her capable hands, and her generous heart.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, 9921 Hwy 107, Sherwood, AR 72120.
