Pledger Monk, Jr

Pledger E. Monk, Jr, age 66 of Arkadelphia died Wednesday April 12, 2006 . He was born Oct 13, 1939 in Little Rock the son of the late Pledger E. and Louise Hamer Monk, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of North Little Rock High School, attended the University of Arkansas and served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He was employed by Fones Brothers Hardware Company for 27 years and store manager at Falk Supply Co until his recent illness. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia.


Survivors include his wife, Judy Durrett Monk; one son, Pledger Monk III and wife, Jennifer of Little Rock; one brother, Don Monk of Sherwood, AR; one sister, Joan Vidrine of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren, Brandon, Connor, Rachel and Parker; several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, April 17, 2006 in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
