Preston Douglas Addison

Listen to Obituary

Preston Douglas Addison, 79, a husband, father, “Grandpa”, and friend to all, passed away at home on Saturday, January 17, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1946, in Des Arc, Arkansas to Verlin Lee and Hazel Marie Hamby Addison, and leaves behind a life marked by deep faith, steadfast love, and service to others.

For 46 years, Preston faithfully served as a Missionary Baptist preacher, answering a calling he first felt as a teenager. After graduating Des Arc High School, he pursued his studies at the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas, preparing himself for a lifetime devoted to spreading the Word of God. His faith was not confined to the pulpit and it was evident in the way he lived each day. Preston placed God first, cherished his family deeply, and believed wholeheartedly in loving others through action as much as through words.

Preston was known for his warm and welcoming spirit. He never met a stranger and had a natural gift for conversation, often punctuated by his trademark dad jokes and easy laughter. He took genuine interest in everyone he met, making people feel seen and valued. His kindness was sincere, whether offering help, encouragement, or even passing along coupons while shopping, hoping someone else might benefit. Helping others simply came naturally to him.

Preston loved learning and spent countless hours studying and reading scripture. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, even though he cheerfully admitted he wasn’t very good at either. A true fixer at heart, he could often be found repairing broken items or repurposing old parts into something useful again. His impressive collection of tools, gathered thoughtfully over the years, reflected his resourcefulness and his desire to be prepared to help whenever he was needed.

Above all else, Preston was a devoted family man. He shared 58 loving years of marriage with his sweet wife, Betty Beggs Addison, and took immense pride in the family they built together. He is survived by his beloved wife; his children, Kyle (Jana) Addison, Kay (Eddie) Yates, and Kera (Paul) Lang; and his cherished grandchildren, Samuel (Kara) Yates, Hailey Addison, Logan Yates, Alyssa Addison, and Breanna Yates. One of his greatest joys, just recently, was welcoming his great-grandchild, Beaux “Buck” Yates, which brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

Preston is also survived by his siblings, Katherine Riley of Florida, Eddie (Brenda) Addison of Des Arc, and Frank (Kathy) Addison of Hazen. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Verlin Addison, Jr., Mary Lodean Judge, and Martha Odean Guess.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Preston’s life on January 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at United Missionary Baptist Church, 3810 Salem Road, Benton, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to United Missionary Baptist Church, at the above address, as a tribute to a life devoted to preaching the Gospel and nurturing a deep and abiding love for God and His church.

Though Preston Douglas Addison’s earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, love, and devotion lives on. His steady presence, insightful wisdom, and unwavering commitment to God and family will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
