Rachel Turner

December 19, 1929 — August 31, 2018

Rachel Turner

Rachel Ann Turner age 88, was peacefully called home to her Lord and Savior on August 31, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice Home care in Bryant, Arkansas. She was born December 19, 1929 in Temperance, Michigan to Ernie Burks and Naomi Graff Burks.

She was able to attend a public school until 8th grade at the age of 13, she helped her family through financial hardships during the depression. This educational decision was easy for her because she ALWAYS put her family and their needs before her own.

She married Carroll Turner in 1947. At the time she worked at Levi Straus and Carroll was employed with the Arkadelphia Police Department. Even when it didn't seem that they couldn't "make ends meet", their love persevered. They were certain , that at that very moment, five beautiful children overflowed their cup of life and gave them the confidence to live their lives to the fullest.

Rachel ran solely on coffee, some would say while those who were blessed to know her better knew gardening or "playing in the dirt" she would call it was her passion. It was one of God's many gifts that she could nurtured.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Turner, one daughter, Cynthia and two sons, Jimmy and Woody Turner; and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors are two daughters, Melinda Buck (Ronald) and Melissa Sanders (Mike); nine grandchildren, Cindy Apodaca (Chris), Christie Quinn (Brian), Woodrow Chad Turner (Andie), Heather Burt (Cory), Casey Ivy(Jeff), Kevin Johnson, Keith Johnson (Anna), Eric Buck, and Andrea Newcomb (Mitch); a host of great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Burks; nieces and loving friends.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 4th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday , September 5th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Golden Cemetery.
