Listen to Obituary

Randall Edgar Pettefer, a beloved son and friend, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Bryant, Arkansas. Born on December 10, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Randall was a gentle giant whose life touched the hearts of many.

Randall's early years were spent in Little Rock, but due to his father's health issues, the family relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1948. He attended Sandia High School, graduating in 1962. Randall's commitment to his family was evident throughout his life, especially when he moved back to Albuquerque to care for his parents until their passing.

Professionally, Randall worked at several jobs after moving to Irving, Texas, but his loyalty to his family brought him back to Albuquerque, where he became known for his unique personality and kindness. Those who cared for him, particularly the nurses, were drawn to his polite demeanor and gentle manner.

An avid reader, Randall found solace in literature, with Walt Whitman's poem "O Captain! My Captain!" holding a special place in his heart. He cherished the power of words and the stories they told. He was also an accomplished pianist.

Randall was especially proud of his grandfather, Ambrose, who immigrated from England and founded the Pettefer Brothers Architectural Firm. This firm left a lasting legacy in the Little Rock area, contributing to landmark buildings such as Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, which stands as a testament to their craftsmanship.

Randall is survived by his family, including Donna (Ray) Bryan of Mabelvale, AR, Gary (Pat) Moore of Gilmer, TX, Buddy (Carolyn) Pettefer of Marietta, GA, Suzanne (Hugh) Johnson of Memphis, TN, Patty Underwood of Franklin, TN, Rhonda Harden of Ackworth, GA, Lusinda Newberg of Maui, HI, Carol Coyle of Anchorage, AK, Michelle (Frank) Reuchel of Kennesaw, GA, and Mark Pettefer of Hilo, HI. His neighbors in Albuquerque, Mike and Terri Miles, and Jen Logan, also provided steadfast support for Randall throughout the years, for which his family is deeply grateful.

Randall is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Hilton Holloway Pettefer, and his grandparents, A.D. and Junie McAllister Holloway, and Ambrose and Lizzie Pettefer.

As we remember Randall Edgar Petterfer, let us hold dear the warmth of his spirit, the kindness he showed, and the love he embedded within his family and friendships.
