Listen to Obituary

Randell "Randy" Reid, age 73, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

He was born on January 22, 1952, in Malvern. Randy was the son of Rudolph Reid and Emogene York Reid Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Norvell Scott; and his grandson, Baby McCuin.

Randy married the love of his life, Loretta Waldo Reid, on September 28, 1971. He was servant-hearted. He served as deacon at Glenwood Freewill Baptist Church. His career was also based around serving. He started in management at K-Mart in Houston and then at Walmart in Little Rock. In 1989, he and Loretta moved to Glenwood where he worked for John Plyler Home Center. In 1998, he started his career in Law Enforcement as a part-time police officer for the City of Glenwood. In 2006, he was Chief of Police. After 10 years he thought he would try retirement where he quickly found that it was not for him. Randy started working as a full-time substitute teacher at Centerpoint School District. His students thought he was working undercover. After five years, Randy fully retired. During his working years, especially in law enforcement, he touched the lives of many and had many parents tell him that he saved their kids.

In his free-time Randy loved hunting, fishing, basketball, and golf. He coached at all of his son's games and when his son became a coach, he attended his games. He loved animals, having an extra soft-spot for his dog, Trixie Belle and his cat, Oreo. His favorite thing to do was being "Pop" to his grandkids. Randy was a loving husband, father, son, pop, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loretta Reid of Glenwood; his two children and their spouses, April and Greg McCuin of Glenwood and Chase and Kelly Reid of Nashville; his four grandchildren, Cade McCuin, Brooklyn McCuin, Clark McCuin, and Blayklee Reid; his three great-grandchildren, Lillie, Lilah, and Landry and their mother, Casandra Cook; his brother and sister-in-law, Lou and Carolyn Reid of Benton; his sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Tom Sass of Nashville, TN; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Cox, Boyd Cox, Shauna Jordan, Cade McCuin, Billy Plyler, and Brooks Killian.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lavoyce Wilder, William Carter, and the staff of Nightingale at Glenwood.
